In addi\u00adti\u00adon to basic nur\u00adsing and care ser\u00advices, the patient\u2019s super\u00advi\u00adsi\u00adon is often more dif\u00adfi\u00adcult, e.g. when the\u00adre is a strong urge to move, incre\u00adasing the risk of fal\u00adling or self-inju\u00adry. That is why the ope\u00adra\u00adtor of a new nur\u00adsing home in Pfaf\u00adfen\u00adhof\u00adfen (France) gave par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar prio\u00adri\u00adty to effec\u00adti\u00adve fall detec\u00adtion and fall pre\u00adven\u00adti\u00adon. The nur\u00adsing home belongs to the F\u00e9d\u00e9\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon Hos\u00adpi\u00adta\u00adli\u00e8\u00adre de France. The aim here was not only to reli\u00ade\u00adve the nur\u00adsing staff, but at the same time to grant the resi\u00addents the grea\u00adtest pos\u00adsi\u00adble secu\u00adri\u00adty and freedom.<\/p>\n<p>During the instal\u00adla\u00adti\u00adon in Pfaf\u00adfen\u00adhof\u00adfen, all 70 nur\u00adsing rooms, inclu\u00adding the bath\u00adrooms, have been equip\u00adped with Sen\u00ads\u00adFlo\u00ador. The sys\u00adtem swit\u00adches on an ori\u00aden\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon light when someone is set\u00adting a foot on the flo\u00ador and it reports via the nur\u00adse call sys\u00adtem any falls detec\u00adted. In this resi\u00addence are 2 wards: one for Alz\u00adhei\u00admer pati\u00adents and one for non-demen\u00adtia pati\u00adents. In the first 4 months sin\u00adce the resi\u00addents moved in, alt\u00adhough the Alz\u00adhei\u00admer sta\u00adti\u00adon was only half occu\u00adp\u00adied, 6 falls were detec\u00adted and repor\u00adted to the staff via the nur\u00adse call sys\u00adtem. During this peri\u00adod, on the ward with non-demen\u00adtia pati\u00adents, which was almost at full capa\u00adci\u00adty, 22 falls were repor\u00adted by the Sen\u00ads\u00adFlo\u00ador sys\u00adtem. Accor\u00adding to the nur\u00adsing mana\u00adger, one of the\u00adse falls would pos\u00adsi\u00adbly have been fatal wit\u00adhout the Sen\u00ads\u00adFlo\u00ador alert.
